Goodluck in Geita

Goodluck in Geita

Agrics' employee Goodluck Simon recently paid a visit to the region of Geita to meet up with a few of the new farmers here. To find out whether the farmers are satisfied with Agrics' services and even more important: the status of their harvest this year. Wherever Goodluck sat down to talk to farmers it seemed like they had....well, good luck this season!

Agrics Tanzania expanded its operations to Geita this year and served about 2.000 farmers with farm inputs on credit. The planting season started in September. Besides certified seeds and fertilizer, the farmers also followed a training to grow their knowledge and skills on agriculture.

As one of the farmers commented: "our farm speaks for itself". There is a huge gap between the quantity of output from farmers that cultivate the traditional way and those who made use of hybrid seeds and fertilizer. However, not every farmer immediately embraced the idea of using fertilizer. It takes time for people to get used to this idea, to collect knowledge and examples of best practices. But, seeing is believing and word of mouth is a powerful way of advertising. Therefore Agrics expects that in 2017 many more farmers will dare to take up the challenge to transform their average field into a lush green heaven.
